Welcome to Joe's Fundraising Page - With support, anything is possible
Update: Due to Covid-19, the run has been post-poned. It will be rescheduled for when it is safe for social gatherings (likely this fall). I will still be participating when the race is rescheduled.
On Sunday, April 26 I am participating in the 5K Nature’s Emporium Run for Southlake in support of Southlake Regional Health Centre – my hospital!
Did you know that the government does not provide funding for most new or replacement hospital tools and equipment? Everything from basic tools like beds and IV poles to state-of-the-art surgical and diagnostic equipment is funded entirely through community support from people like you and me.
That’s why I’m fundraising – to make sure that my hospital has the right tools and equipment in hand to provide the best possible care close to home for my family, friends and neighbours. Please join me in supporting this important cause and help me reach my personal fundraising goal by donating today.
Together we can build healthier communities and ensure leading edge care is available close to home for everyone who needs it.
Thank you for your support!
On a personal note, you may ask why I am participating. The simplest answer is because I can. In late June 2019, I was taken to the hospital in a non-responsive state. Even though the doctors weren't sure that I would survive at all, they took immediate action to save my leg. I risked losing it to the infection that was threatening my life. I underwent multiple operations and was on life support for several days. After weeks in the hospital, I was told it would be months, possibly years, before I would be able to walk with the real possibility that I may still lose my leg. I still have a long road ahead of me, but every journey starts with one step. My next step is the 5K Run for Southlake.
