My Southlake 5K Run in honour of Francois Michel
The Southlake Foundation is very close to my heart. As most of you may know, this past December, my dad passed away. In 2017, he was diagnosed with colon and lung cancer at Southlake. From the very beginning, the doctors and nurses played a huge supportive roll in his journey. I truly believe that that we had more precious time with him here because of the ongoing care that he received.
Another place of meaning to me is a building beside Southlake. The Margaret Bahen Hospice is where my dad spent his final days with us, just before Christmas. He was kept safe, comfortable and rested peacefully. My family and I will never forget the wonderful volunteers and staff who cared for him there. His palliative care doctor, Dr. Baguio, is one of the most amazing people I think I will ever meet.
This will be my third 5K Run for Southlake. Although it will be a bit different this year because my dad won't be there to cheer me across the finish line, I have no doubt that he will be encouraging me somehow, someway.
I truly appreciate all of your donations, support and encouragement.
Love & miss you Dad.
